Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences University of Zagreb (FHSS)
The FHSS is the largest higher education institution in Croatia, which carries out research activities and executes university programs in the field of humanities and social sciences, as well as a significant cultural institution with a great impact on Croatian culture and society. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is part of the University of Zagreb, the oldest university in Croatia and one of the oldest universities in Europe. In addition to teaching activities, members of Faculty perform research activities in special scientific areas. The main research activities are in the field of psychology, sociology, information and communication sciences, philosophy, linguistics, history, art history, archaeology, ethnology and cultural anthropology, and many philological groups. In some scientific aspects in the field of humanities and social sciences it can be safely said that the FHSS is a point of reference at the European level.

Sarah Huffman, Iowa State University, short-bio
Sarah Huffman holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics and Technology and is currently the Assistant Director of the Center for Communication Excellence in the Graduate College at Iowa State University, U.S.A. She has instructed English as a Foreign Language in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia and Queretaro, Mexico, and English as a Second Language at Eastern Mennonite University and Iowa State University. Currently, Sarah teaches graduate- and postdoctoral-level courses on empirical research writing and trains graduate writing consultants to critically analyze and provide constructive feedback on peers’ disciplinary writing. Her research interests include genre and discourse analysis, the development and implementation of writing technologies to promote enhanced learning of academic communication genres, and systemic functional linguistic approaches to language development.
Tomas Tjus, University of Gothenburg, short-bio
Tomas Tjus is licensed psychologist, licensed psychotherapist and professor at Department of psychology, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Before doing an academic career he worked at child- and adolescent clinic and child neuropsychiatric clinic and he has also been supervisor for clinical staff at schools and treatment units for children and adolescents with various problems. He is conducting basic research about children’s cognitive, social and communicative development and applied research investigating the use of multimedia programs when trying to increase literacy skills in children with different reading problems.
